The idea was simple: inspired by the bike powered trash removal service in Northampton, MA, Pedal People, Than and I felt like Providence would benefit from something like this. The city has trash removal, but how about encouraging Providence folks to sort from their trash all that golden stuff that makes up more than a third of our waste, the compostable stuff. So we grew the idea over time.. lots more time later and we've welded ourselves a bike cart, tracked down buckets, found sites to take your compost, and we're just about ready to go door to door!
Our fee is $10 a month, for weekly pickups, we give you the bucket, you fill it up, leave it outside, we take the full one, leave you an empty one, sort of like the milk man, easy! Email farminacart@riseup.net to subscribe to our service.
